The Michael Wayne Grim Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1980. Since 1981, a C.B. East senior student athlete possessing qualities similar to those exemplified in Michael's life is chosen to receive this award. At C.B. East, Mike was a leader and captain of the Patriot Basketball Team which finished first in the Bux-Mont League and third in the District in 1979.
He was a diligent, hard-working individual determined to perform as well in the classroom as he did on the basketball court. His creativity and potential, which seemed so great at the time, were cut short in the brief moments it took for a tragic automobile accident to occur.
To honor his life and memory, his family, coaches and friends established this Scholarship Fund. Student athletes at C.B East are considered for this award if they participate in a varsity sport, maintain at least a 3.85 grade point average, and clearly demonstrate leadership, maturity, and sportsmanship qualities.
